ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOX) — More rain is moving into the area, but at this point forecasters don’t expect it to produce any new major flooding.
National Weather Service Senior Meteorologist Thomas Spriggs tells KMOX, “There is still a flood threat at this time, its just a matter of how fast this system moves through.”
Spriggs tells KMOX this morning that we’re expecting one to three inches of rain over a 36 hour period, which could cause minor flooding on smaller rivers like the Meramec and Quivre. As for the Mississippi and Illinois, “We’re looking at another crest coming if the rainfall again comes true, but right now it looks like its not going to be what we were dealing with crest wise a week or two ago.”
Spriggs says the rainfall expected should not be heavy enough to result in flash flooding.
